Virginia Redistricting Ballot Measure — April 21, 2026
Donald Trump started this fight against our democratic election system, and when it comes to defending democracy, Virginia never backs down. That is why I voted YES (early) on Virginia’s ballot question to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in upcoming elections.
Donald Trump knows that his policies and allies can’t win a fair fight at the ballot box, so he pressured states like Texas and Florida to engage in unprecedented mid-decade partisan gerrymandering. Trump and Republicans were counting on those extra seats to save Trump’s rubber stamp majority in Congress, which refuses to perform its constitutional role as a check on Trump.
What they weren’t counting on was for Virginia to fight back. But Virginia is doing what it has done since 1776: standing up for our democratic values. Through the ballot measure to temporarily redraw our congressional districts, we can counterbalance Trump’s gerrymandering elsewhere and send Representatives to Congress who will stand up to Trump.
That is why I am running for Congress in the proposed Seventh Congressional District that will exist if Virginia passes the referendum. And to be clear: I am not a career politician. I am running to meet this moment, and I am committed to promptly returning to the common sense, non-partisan redistricting that is consistent with Virginia’s principles. If that means that the seat that I hope to win in 2026 is gone in 2030, so be it.
Early voting began on March 6, 2026 on Virginia’s April 21 ballot question. Vote YES. To find out your early voting details—or if you need to register to vote, like my eighteen year old daugter just did, consult your local registrar.
